It was reported that the patient's drain was noted to be disconnected at the "lobster claw" area once he sat on the edge of his bed. "neurosurgery provider advised to wipe tubing clean with alcohol swab, reconnect, and recompress drain. Did not recommend removing drain completely as patients surgery was just the day before. " the patient also got out of bed to sit in his chair a few hours later. Drain was clamped to his gown with the green clasp. The clasp let loose and the drain fell to the floor. The tubing became disconnected from the actual drain. It was wiped with alcohol and reconnected. The drain was reportedly in use for 13 hours.
