A power-assisted, manually-operated device consisting of a platform mounted on a wheeled frame, intended for use by emergency medical services (EMS) primarily to facilitate easy transport of a recumbent patient to and from ambulance vehicles (e.g., automobiles, aircraft, boats), whilst minimizing the effort required by the operator to raise the platform. It has an undercarriage fitted with pneumatic springs intended to raise/lower the patient, and is collapsible for ambulance loading; the pneumatic springs are intended to store energy (during lowering of the frame) to assist lifting; it does not include a power supply.
