A component of a remote afterloading brachytherapy system consisting of a shielded vault, and associated source retraction and extrusion mechanisms, alarms, and related mechanical, electronic and software controls, used to shield the brachytherapy sources in order to protect system operators, brachytherapy patients and others from the continuous emissions of the radioactive brachytherapy source(s) when they are not in use.
