Definition
A hygroscopic material [e.g., calcium oxide (CaO), silica] typically in powder, gel or crystal form intended to absorb water from its vicinity to keep nearby devices and objects free of moisture. Desiccants are commonly available in sachets or capsules designed to be placed in a container together with a device (e.g., hearing aid). This is a reusable device.
