Electron beam sterilizer

Definition
A mains electricity (AC-powered) device designed for total elimination and/or inactivation of microorganisms from medical devices and related products using electron beams (accelerated electrons). It typically includes a treatment chamber with shelves where packed devices to be sterilized are placed; an electron beam source; and controls to regulate the time of the procedure. The device is mainly used by manufacturers to irradiate single-use medical devices (e.g., syringes, needles) and supplies even after they are packed and ready to deliver; they may also be used in big healthcare facilities that sterilize a great volume of devices.
