Endoscopic-imaging ophthalmic solid-state laser system
Definition
A mains electricity (AC-powered) device assembly with an integral endoscope video camera and in which input energy from a diode laser is used to excite a glass/crystal rod to emit a high-power laser beam, in which the frequency is doubled, intended to treat retinal and other eye disorders, such as glaucoma, during endoscopic cyclophotocoagulation (ECP) procedures. It includes a light source, controls/foot-switch, and is typically connected via a flexible fibreoptic cable to an appropriate hand-held endoscope with laser beam guide introduced into the eye for imaging and laser treatment. It does not include femtosecond pulsing technology.
