Laboratory shaker
- Definition
- A mains electricity (AC-powered), electromechanical device, typically used in the laboratory or a blood bank, that is used to shake/stir samples/mixtures with a rapid and forceful movement. It is used to provide a rapid mixing or prevent substances comprising different components from separation or sedimentation because of their different densities. It may be designed to secure a single specimen container or specimen container holder in which the user will place the end (the bottom) of a test tube/specimen container for a short period, or it may hold multiple specimens during the shaking cycle. Some types may have selectable agitation frequencies.
