Pleural catheter insertion set

Definition
A collection of sterile devices designed for the insertion of a catheter into the pleural cavity (potential space between the serous membranes covering the lungs) to establish a channel for the removal of fluid (pleural effusion, blood, chyle), air (pneumothorax), or pus (empyema). It typically consists of a coaxial chest tube inserter and a clear drainage catheter with radiopaque stripe, skin fixation device, syringe, introducer needle, wire guide, dilator(s), tubing set connectors, and a three-way tap. This is a single-use device.
