Sclerotome

Definition
A hand-held manual ophthalmic surgical instrument that is knife-like in design and intended to be used to incise the sclera (opaque tissue visible anteriorly between the eyelids as "the whites of the eye") during a sclerotomy. This device is typically made of high-grade stainless steel. This is a reusable device.
