An electronic device designed to place a surgical generator (e.g., electrosurgical, ultrasonic surgical) into a mode that allows the software embedded on the device to be updated/upgraded through the use of an attached or separate media device (e.g., USB flash drive, CD). It is in the form of a small stick that is inserted into the appropriate socket/port on the generator. It is typically used in a non-clinical setting by company service/sales personnel or a hospital clinical engineer. This is a reusable device.
