Technetium-labelled carbon aerosol generator

Definition
An electrically-powered device designed to produce a radioactive aerosol, consisting of an ultra-fine dispersion of technetium-99m (99mTc) labelled carbon, for delivery to the lungs during a variety of nuclear medicine diagnostic imaging procedures. It is intended to accept a small disposable graphite crucible loaded with sodium pertechnetate (NaTcO4) [not included]. Generation of the 99mTc-based radioactive aerosol is achieved through technetium reduction and dispersal using intense heat. Once the aerosol is generated it is delivered to the patient via an administration set.
