Umbilical cord clip

Definition
A device placed on an umbilical stub (created by severing the umbilical cord of an infant after birth) for haemostasis, typically until the stub falls off. The device is typically designed as small metal or plastic pincers shaped to slip onto the umbilical cord where it is compressed to create the occlusion. This is a single-use device.
