Artificial mastoid

Definition
An electrically-powered benchtop device designed to simulate the mechanical impedance of the human mastoid bone to calibrate/test bone conduction hearing aids or for determination of output force of a bone vibrator [specified in standard (IEC 60318-6)]. Also known as a mechanical coupler, it is equipped with a mechano-electric transducer to enable an alternating force level to be determined.
